The Ted is dead!!!

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
attention ladies and gentlemen-
after an intense political race for the alaska senate seat, ted stevens, the worst of the republican senators, has been ousted! with only a 3,500 vote lead and 2000 left to be counted, mark begich has proven that even die hard alaskan conservatives don't like convicted felons. poor old teddy got bitch-slapped by his own voting base.

this is great news for democrats because that is one less republican in office and it puts them one step closer to the legendary 60 seat filibuster proof senate. all we have left is the georgia race on dec. 2 and the minnisota recount. cross your fingers everybody!

The numbers speak for themselves, yet we still have these supply side idiots with major news platforms, like Larry Kudlow telling us all is well. The market is not the all knowing omnipotent being that we should all pray to. It is merely legalized house of ill repute where suckers send their hard earned money in the form of Roth Ira’s and 401k’s for the promise of a tax sheltered retirement account only to have the principal and gains wiped out by unbridled short sellers and hedge fund managers.

What is Watchmen?

Ok, I watched today's show and saw the confusion surrounding Watchmen. I read it twice, so I'll answer some of the questions, even though 10 other people are already doing this.

More Bizarro from Bush - Permanent Appointees?!

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit

Now this is something new to me. Apparently, Bush can place political appointees at various federal agencies into permanent senior civil service positions to maintain Bush administration policies under Obama's administration.

Senate pardons Lieberman - Reid says move forward

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
Senator Harry Reid held a press conference today after the Democratic caucus voted to pardon Joe Lieberman.  Both Reid and Lieberman answer questions.  Although I loath Lieberman for his conduct over the past five years, I have to accept both Reid and Barack Obama for their political calculations in Lieberman's exoneration.  I believe that the recent meetings Obama has had with McCain and Graham may indicate that Lieberman, McCain, and Graham will vote as a block with the democrats when Obama really needs a bill passed.

Free Market?

I keep hearing politicians, journalists, pundits, etc... defend the free market economy, then they talk about bailouts.

Repent for your Obama vote

As in every election, some church pastor asks parishioners to repent for voting for a pro-life candidate before receiving communion.

Should the Arctic meltdown be exploited for petroleum?

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
The long sought for Northwest Passage has become a reality with global warming resulting in the current arctic meltdown.  There is also speculation that the arctic may hold 25% of earth's untapped oil reserves.  Does human progress demand the arctic be exploited for those petroleum deposits, or is this the time in human history to make a (r)evolutionary jump past petroleum as our primary energy source?  Peter Alexander returned from three weeks onboard a Canadian icebreaker with the report below

Drug Legalization to save the Economy

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
With the overwhelming sentiment of the country today as being on the wrong course, as well as the suffering economy; drastic decisions await our leaders in order to get out of this set of challenges we are facing. Millions of brave Americans have fought and died in the name of freedom. Yet, we still have many cases in our country of citizens not granted their full right of freedom and privacy. One would be the current “War on Drugs”. Legalization of illicit drugs is an option we should seriously consider to ensure the future health of our citizen’s rights and our economy.

Bush and Cheney Shredding Torture Memos

Google Technorati del.icio.us digg reddit
With the string of recent victories, Democrats in Congress are feeling their oats and testing the waters with their new powers. With the current love fest going on between Laura Bush and Michelle Obama, amidst all the civility one would be forgiven for forgetting just how nasty things have been the past few years.

Well, just in time, not a moment too late: Pat Leahy, Sheldon Whitehouse, John D. Rockefeller IV and Dianne Feinstein sent a kindly reminder over to House not to forget to hand in any papers they owe before tidying up the place and making scarce.

One can only imagine what the nearly imperial Dick Cheney would muse upon receiving the news.
