TROUBLE WATCHING THE VIDEO. WHAT CAN I DO? -
The new slideshow of rotating graphics left of the video screen makes the video stop every time the image changes. If you are experiencing this problem, create a free user account with the website (if you don't have one already). When logged in using your free user account, click My Preferences in the upper right. Then click Interface. Scroll down about half way down the page and look for Frontpage Slideshow. Uncheck the little box, save your preferences (at the bottom of the page) and try again. The slideshow should stop, and the video should run smoothly.
Tip from Helen: At first I couldn't see the video, but after trying 3 or 4 times, it worked. (If the video doesn't appear at first, please keep clicking on the image.)
Mac Viewing tips
Microsoft has a new download that may help Mac users. Go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and find the download for Windows Media Components for Quick Time.
Tip from Scott: If you are trying to watch the video on the web page, there is an easy fix and a hard fix (at least for the problems I've had).
The hard fix: make sure the windows media player plugin is correctly installed. Sometimes the player will successfully download to the plugin folder, but will have the wrong file extension. If this is the case, they need to change the name of the file so it ends in the same extension as the rest of the plugins. My windows media player wouldn't work inside a web page until I did this.
Also, find out about flip4mac at this website.
The easy fix: open windows media player by itself and go to file=>open location and type this in and hit return: http://winmedia.voxcdn.net/3137-live1-wmv
If windows media player isn't opening, they should download version 9 for Mac OSX again and reinstall.
Tips for dial up users and others from Dave: Love your Turkibuster. I've been having problems getting the connection to stay up, so I came up with the following solution that will work for your millions and millions of fans who have dial-up or otherwise crappy connections....
1) Open Windows Media Player
2) Click Tools, and then options
3) Click the performance tab
4) Under choose connection speed, switch it to 28.8 kbps
5) Move the video acceleration slider to "None"
6) Connect to the stream and listen to audio only at 32kbps, instead of audio and video at 118kbps!
Thanks for kickin' ass!
Problems with Windows Media Player For errors related to proxy servers, in Media Player, go to Tools>Options>Network>Configure, then chose "Do not use a proxy server."
Another random user tip. If you're having troubles, you might need to tell your computer to add theyoungturks.com as a "trusted site", through the Options menu on your internet browser.
- WHAT ARE THE LYRICS TO THE YOUNG TURKS THEME SONG?
- The Young Turk Song, by the band The Decepticonz, was written for Cenk Uygur and his public access cable TV show in Arlington, VA in the mid-1990s.
It's kind of hard in this day and age,
to find something good on TV.
We found television's best kept secret,
On Public Access, Channel 33.
He's just an actor, an extra.
He had an idea, a talk show.
He rates women, the five tiers,
and takes callers, who don't know.
You got a question, he's got an answer,
and a position, on every issue.
Turn on your TV, its time to listen to him ramble on Washington DC,
Won't you come embrace your beloved son?
The Young Turk Show.
Turk and his buddies like to go to bars,
He doesn't like religion and wants to be a movie star,
He had his friends on, they got drunk they couldn't figure out which camera they were filming from.
You got a question. Turn on your TV. The Young Turk Show.
Tier one is a do or date,
Tier two, just do.
Tier three in a social vacuum,
Tier four, fat chance.
Tier five, well I guess you're kind of ugly and you look a little chubby and I wouldn't let touch me if you were the last person on earth.
You got a question. Turn on your TV. Ladies and gentleman. The Young Turk Show.
