s his implication that Democrats are weak and would give in to the terrorists polite? Why are they allowed to be complete and utter assholes, but we're not allowed to call them out on it? Cenk

Maybe you could enlighten us as to where you came up with this information other than regurgitating Rush Limbaugh....

  • Like I said, if it wasn't for the Democrats hindering the war effort, funding, and the troops we'd have won these years ago. What we need is a much larger standing army, more media control, and fewer rules. Cenk is right on about the tool-like quality of Mark Halperin in terms of spewing Republican talking points concerning what the focus of the election should be about.  You know who the tool is that Cenk hasn't mentioned.  Why of course, his friend Michael Hirsch.  I do enjoy listening to Cenk gently nudging Michael, but I must say, it is quite obvious he is just as shinny a tool as Halperin and Scarborough (although Scarborough is better described as a Republican operative).

Some pledged delegates are free and some aren't. This is a state to state issue.

McCain only has something to the extend of 750 guaranteed delegates who can't change their vote. He has another 500 or whatever the number is now that are his delegates but have the liberty to change their vote at the convention.

I've seen the arguement that McCain hasn't completely wrapped the GOP race up because of that.

"

Dem Dirty Tricks in Florida   [Greg Pollowitz]

So, why do they really want a mail-in revote in Florida?  From Dan Gelber's blog (Gelber is Minority Leader of the Florida House of Representatives):

The major reason is that the revote, in addition to making sure Florida voters are heard, should also be a party building exercise. Returned ballots (because of address changes) will help us dramatically improve our voter database. If appropriate we could also ask Democrats to voluntarily give us their emails and telephone numbers so we can communicate with them in November and beyond. All this would help us considerably in the general election. If, however, the state oversees the election, Florida Democrats would be footing the bill without getting the attendant advantages the revote offers."

Charlie Crist should make sure that the State of Florida oversees the election. I'm sure that FL state law prescribes this oversight.

It's not a general election. The Dems can do whatever they want to or give all their delegates on a whim like the Louisana Republicans do.

Flashback Spitzer commercial.

Clinton stands to gain big if they can get some sort of election or some sort of seating in Florida. Not only can she win there....seemingly, but she has 25 or so superdelegate advantage in that state.

NRO speculated on the latest polls and matchups:

JOHN MCCAIN, BARACK OBAMA, HILLARY CLINTON, HORSERACE

All Head-to-Head Polls This Month Show Tight Race

So far this month, there have been four national polls of McCain vs. Obama head to head. Two were registered voters, two were likely voters. All had sample sizes from 1041 to 1600.

The results? McCain 45, Obama 44. McCain 45, Obama 46. McCain 46, Obama 44. McCain 46, Obama 46.

Against Hillary, it's a very similar story. McCain 45, Hillary 46. McCain 46, Hillary 48. McCain 46, Hillary 45. McCain 46, Hillary 48.

Seems pretty even whether the Dems choose Hillary or Obama.

What didn't Vitter have to quit when he "did the same thing as Sptizer."

Maybe because...the DA was going to call a grand jury against Spitzer had he not resigned. link

I agree with Cenk that Hagee really is one of the most destructive people in this world. He spread a lot of hate and he has enough influence to affect major powers.

But that being said I think Cenk went a light overboard in right to make Hagee look as ridicoulous as Rev Wright. And to be honest I was not convinced. I agree that Hagee is a nut job who wants to start Armageddon so he can get to heaven but the clips shown by Cenk are just not that absurb etc or shocking.

Will have to find better clips of Hagee. Or just accept that Hagee has not said things which are as controversial.

Watching the Meet the Bloggers w/ Reid segment from 7/25/2008 at about 0:50 min into the below video segment Reid mentions that Senator Wyden of Oregon proposed a countermeasure on drilling in ANWR which stipulated that any production can only be sold within the U.S. which 16 senators including Mccain voted against

Is this perhaps the same type of proposal Reid has recently just introduced here, as a means of calling the Republicans bluff to shame them into submission because it doesn't quite fully benefit GOPs "energy" constituency. In turn, it also gives the Dems the chance to grab MSM headlines with 'GOP votes No on drilling because Dems propose production remains within US'...or something like that

Fair debate with a Hussein Obama stooge as a moderator.
Gwen Ifill, the supposedly “impartial” moderator of Thursday’s vice presidential debate, is in fact the author of an upcoming book that expresses admiration for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. The last time I looked in my dictionary under the word "moderator" it stated "‘nonpartisan officer of a town meeting".

“Ifill and her publisher are banking on an Obama/Biden win to buoy her book sales,”.
I remember a short time ago when there was a debate on TV where McCain and Obama were asked the same questions, but only one was on the stage at a time while the other, McCain, was in a room where he did not know what questions Obama was being asked, what his relpies were, just prior to McCain going on stage and being asked the same questions.
Well the left wingnuts cried and cried that McCain was being fed those questions while Obama was being asked them, of course with no proof to back those claims.
At the same time, Hussein Obama got  Gwen Ifill to moderate the Biden/Palin debate.
Ifill who has a very big financial stake in this debate and election. if Obama/Biden ticket does not win, Ifill's book will tank, be a dud. If they win, it means big money and a big boost to her writing career.
What a bunch of cowards, cannot even have what appears to be a fair debate between Palin and Biden.
Democrats try to paint a picture of Palin being a dumb broard, yet they are scared stiff she will make Biden look like the graffe bozo machine that he is.
Maybe in all fairness, have Rush moderate the next McCain.Hussein debate.

What we can learn about Obama from this mind-numbing list of gaffes?
This series of gaffes by Obama and Biden that raise serious questions about their ability to compete at a high political level
Obama's gaffes are either due to ignorance (a "lack of experience") or obtuseness (a "lack of common sense"). But I think the cause of these gaffes makes all the difference as to whether Obama can compete. And we cannot yet know the cause.

An ignorant gaffe is made because one does not have experience in doing what one is doing. An accomplished piano player who errs when playing a piece of Bach for the first time is committing gaffes borne of ignorance; with practice, he will overcome them. An obtuse gaffe, on the other hand, implies a congenital tendency: one cannot keep from committing the error. For most presidential candidates, gaffes are obtuse gaffes. If they can make a competitive challenge for the White House, they probably have had a lot of practice at electioneering. So, any gaffes they continue to make are, in a sense, congenital. Bush's tendency to toss out non-sequiturs and Kerry's tendency to add impromptu addenda to pre-prepared remarks are obtuse gaffes. Neither can help themselves.

But Obama is really not in the same category. This is his first stab at competitive politics that is not on the retail level (which, by all accounts, he is excellent at). So, Obama might be making gaffes due to ignorance, or lack of training in the high profile, media-centered affair that is the presidential campaign. This is a training he might be able to acquire. But not necessarily. Maybe Obama possesses an inalterable tendency to overreach with his rhetoric. Maybe he cannot keep from putting his foot in his mouth. We have just not seen enough of Barack Obama to know either way.

As you read this post keep in mind Dan Quayle's claim to the Presidency in 1996 was dismissed due a spelling error on the word potato...despite the fact that his political experience included four years as Vice President of the United States, 8 years as a Senator, and four years as a Congressman.
